Andrés González
Andrés González is an educator, photographer, and visual artist based in Vallejo, California. At present, he is most drawn to subjects that allow him to explore "truths behind the fictional, mythic aspects of American history."
González's 2019 book, American Origami, contains over 700 photographs, interviews, and forensic documents from six years of research into the epidemic of mass shootings in American schools. American Origami won the 2019 Light Work Photo Book Award and was shortlisted for the 2019 Paris Photo - Aperture First Book Award. González is also the author of a self-published book, Somewhere.
González has received a Pulitzer Center Grant for his project, American Origami; a residency at Light Work; and a Fulbright Fellowship for study/research in Istanbul, to name a handful of honors. His work as appeared in exhibitions nationally and internationally, including shows in New York, Turkey, Spain, Italy, and Poland.
