Don Norris

Don Norris (b. 1940) is a native of Indiana and an emeritus professor of biological sciences. As a landscape photographer based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, he has been drawn to the vernacular rural architecture of the Deep South. His approach to photography—clean and specific formalism—nicely fits the architectural spirit and tenor of these historic buildings. Norris’s photography has been widely exhibited across the South. His architectural work is in permanent collections of the Ogden Museum of Art (New Orleans), the Harn Museum of Art (Gainesville, FL), the Mississippi Museum of Art (Jackson, MS), the Georgia Museum of Art (Athens, GA), the Morris Museum of Art (Augusta, GA), the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (Montgomery, AL), the Julie Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art (Auburn, AL), and the Art Museum of the University of Kentucky (Lexington, KY).
