Keith Carter

Keith Carter (b. 1948) is a distinguished artist, author, and occasional musician based in Beaumont, Texas, where he holds the Endowed Walles Chair of Art at Lamar University. His ethereal images of landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and human and animal figures have been shown in over 100 solo exhibitions in 13 countries since the late 1980s.

Carter's career is decorated with numerous prestigious awards, including the Texas Medal of Arts and the Lange-Taylor Prize from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. His work is held in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery (Washington DC); the Art Institute of Chicago; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the J. Paul Getty Museum (Los Angeles); and the George Eastman House (Rochester), to name a few.
