Matt Eich

Matt Eich (b. 1986, Richmond, Virginia) is a photographic essayist based in Charlottesville, Virginia who currently serves as an Associate Professor at Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at the George Washington University. His long-form photobook works address themes of memory, family, community, and the American condition. Between 2016-2024 he published The Invisible Yoke, a series of four monographs, with Swiss publisher Sturm & Drang. In 2017 he published I Love You, I'm Leaving, with ceiba Editions. Matt also regularly self-publishes zines and book maquettes under the imprint Little Oak PRESS. 

Eich received a BS in photojournalism from Ohio University and an MFA in photography from the University of Hartford. His clients include Apple, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and TIME. His work has received grant support from an Aaron Siskind Fellowship and the Aperture / Google Creator Labs Photo Fund. His recognitions include a 2013 residency at Light Work and the 2019 Robert Rauschenberg Residency.
