Alec Soth

Alec Soth (b. 1969) is a Minnesota-based member of Magnum Photos. His work focuses on the banality of life in the United States, connectivity with strangers, and exploring the “unbeaten path.” In 2008, Soth created Little Brown Mushroom, a multi-media enterprise focused on visual storytelling.

He has published over twenty-five books and has over fifty solo exhibitions to his name. Soth has received numerous fellowships and awards, including the Santa Fe Prize for Photography (2003); a Guggenheim Fellowship (2013); and two McKnight Foundation Photography Fellowships. His work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago); the Museum of Modern Art (New York); the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis); and the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), among others.
