Magdalena Sole

Magdalena Solé (b. 1958) is a Spanish photographer based in New York City. Her photographic impulses have taken her across the world—from Cuba, to Japan, to China, to Brazil, to Burma, to the Mississippi Delta, anywhere she goes she’s most drawn to the people and places on the margins. Poverty, displacement, transition, resilience and resourcefulness are all themes that arise in Solé’s images. Solé’s work has been the subject of sixteen solo exhibitions, both in the United States and abroad. She was awarded the Silver Award in 2011 at PX3 Prix de la Photographie (France) for her book, New Delta Rising, and was a member of the production team that won the 2009 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for Man on Wire
